“THE HISTORY OF THE NATION THROUGH THE PAGES OF BOOKS”
In honour of Republic Day, celebrated on 25 October, the staff of the University Library organised a large-scale, three-part book exhibition entitled “The History of the Nation through the Pages of Books” and conducted a bibliographic review.
Distinguished by its rich content and broad historical scope, the exhibition introduced readers to the long and instructive journey of our people, from ancient times to the independence of modern Kazakhstan.
Every book displayed at the exhibition represented a voice from the past, while every historical account served as a chronicle preserved in the nation’s collective memory. The exhibited publications traced the country’s history from the era of the Saka and Huns through the periods of the Göktürks, the Golden Horde and the Kazakh Khanate. Works devoted to “Qasym Khan’s Bright Path” and “Esim Khan’s Old Path” presented the legal and spiritual foundations of our statehood.
The exhibition connected the ideals of freedom promoted by the Alash intellectuals with the history of modern independent Kazakhstan, its state symbols and the Constitution. It also featured publications encouraging young people—the future of the country—to pursue knowledge, demonstrate patriotism and embrace national responsibility.
The section devoted to national values presented books on oral and written literature, folklore, ethnography, traditions and customs. These works offered a comprehensive insight into the spiritual identity and worldview of our people, as well as the educational value of our cultural heritage for future generations.
“The History of the Nation through the Pages of Books” exhibition became a spiritual bridge connecting ancient history with modern independence and attracted significant interest from thoughtful readers. The participants highly praised the thematic organisation of the exhibition and the bibliographic review, noting that the presented publications provided them with valuable knowledge and profound spiritual impressions.
Only a generation that understands its past can appreciate the present and confidently shape the future. Knowing the history of one’s country means reviving the nation’s collective memory, while passing our precious heritage on to future generations is a shared responsibility entrusted to us all.
