LITERARY AND INTELLECTUAL EVENING “FROM BOOKS TO THOUGHT, FROM THOUGHT TO ACTION” HELD
A literary and intellectual evening entitled “From Books to Thought, from Thought to Action” was held at our university. The event was jointly organized by the Library staff and the Department of Youth Policy as part of the “A Reading Nation Is an Intellectual Nation” project.
The purpose of the event was to promote the importance of reading in broadening people’s intellectual horizons, provide participants with an opportunity to share insights gained from the works they had read, and encourage them to turn the lessons learned from books into positive actions in their daily lives.
At the beginning of the event, librarian Aruzhan Kozhakhmet introduced the participants to the rules of the quiz and emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge and lessons gained from books effectively in everyday life.
During the evening, the students competed in several activities, including the “My World of Books” board, the “Thoughtful Reader” quiz, the “From Books to Thought” group activity, the “Treasure Chest of Thoughts,” the “Reader’s Pledge,” and the “Intellectual Reader’s Action Map.” Each stage was designed to demonstrate the participants’ knowledge, critical-thinking abilities, and creative perspectives developed through reading.
During the intellectual competition, the university students shared their impressions of the works they had read and discussed their central ideas and values. Through group activities, they exchanged opinions and had an opportunity to connect the ideas gained from books with practical actions.
The evening concluded with the shared motto: “A reading nation is a thinking nation, and a thinking nation is a nation of action!” Students who actively participated in the event received gifts from the Library staff.
The literary and intellectual evening was a meaningful gathering that increased young people’s interest in reading, contributed to the development of reading culture, and encouraged them to reflect on what they read and apply the knowledge gained in their lives.
