On 9 October, librarians and members of the Ruhaniyat Club, established under the university library, held a literary discussion of Mukhtar Magauin’s short story “Right and Left” in the university park. The books and candles arranged in the open air added a special charm to the evening, while the warm and intimate spiritual atmosphere helped reveal the artistic meaning of the work.

The event was attended by honoured guests Aydana Askerbekova, Head of the Youth Centre; Shokhzod Ergashtayev, Leading Specialist; and Akerke Ilesova, Coordinator. During the discussion, the club’s new members openly exchanged views on human nature, inner conflict, choice and perception as explored in the story.

The students compared the story’s philosophical and ideological content with the ideas of Aristotle and Plato, Abai’s Words of Edification, and the works of the Alash intellectuals, offering an in-depth examination of their spiritual resonance. The meaningful gathering enabled the participants to gain a deeper understanding of the literary work, develop their critical-thinking skills and cultivate a culture of literary analysis.

At the end of the evening, letters of appreciation were presented to students who had actively contributed to the club’s activities.
