“The Great Abai: The Continuity of His Teachings”
Organised by the Turkistan City Council of Veterans, the competition “The Great Abai: The Continuity of His Teachings” was held as part of the citywide “Developing a Culture of Reading and Building an Intellectually Engaged Nation” marathon. The event marked the 75th birthday of Professor and scholar Seidulla Sadykuly.
The competition brought together teams from the Turkistan Regional Farab Universal Scientific Library, the Turkistan Regional Ybyrai Altynsarin Children’s Library, and the Library of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University. The university library’s “Tolyq Adam” (The Complete Human Being) team included librarians, fourth-year student Leskenqyzy Ulbala from group ФҚӘ-311Б, and fourth-year student Maulen Hasan from group ТДТ-311.
During the competition, participants examined the profound ideas and philosophical reflections in Abai’s Words of Edification, exchanged views, and explored the significance of the great thinker’s legacy. In the second round, teams presented theatrical performances on the theme “Connecting Abai’s Words of Edification with Contemporary Society.” These performances linked the poet’s reflections on morality, education, work, honour, and conscience to life in today’s society. In the third round, participants eloquently expressed the lessons they had drawn from Abai’s teachings, demonstrating their public speaking skills and depth of knowledge.
The “Segizayaq” team from Farab Library took first place, followed by the “Tolyq Adam” team from the Library of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in second place. The “Altynsarin” team from Ybyrai Altynsarin Library took third place.
Through such meaningful gatherings, Abai’s words find renewed resonance, and the great thinker’s spiritual legacy continues to pass from generation to generation. Abai’s teachings remain the nation’s spiritual compass, while his words of wisdom are an enduring legacy entrusted to future generations.
