A round-table discussion dedicated to presenting President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s book “Honest Words for a Just Society” to residents of the Turkistan Region was held at our University.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the contents of the book, which reflects the Head of State’s socio-political views and key priorities for the country’s development, and to examine the relevance of the issues raised in it to contemporary society.
“Honest Words for a Just Society” is a collection demonstrating the continuity of the President’s views on the state, society, and the individual. The book brings together the Head of State’s political and civic principles formed over more than 30 years, his experience in public administration, and his reflections on national values and social development.
The meeting was attended by veterans, representatives of public administration, education, science, culture, law, youth policy and civil society, as well as members of the intelligentsia, poets and writers, lecturers, and young researchers.
Opening the meeting, its moderator, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova, said:
“Today’s meeting is more than an event intended merely to introduce the book to the public. It is an important platform for dialogue that allows us to explore more deeply the principles of state policy, social values, and the responsibility of every citizen with regard to the present and future of our country.
The book presented to you contains selected speeches delivered by the Head of State at national and international events and public meetings since the early years of independence, as well as ideas expressed in his articles, interviews, and other works. Covering a period of almost 35 years, these materials reveal the President’s commitment to statehood, his political experience, and the evolution of his vision for the country’s development.”
Chairman of the Turkistan Regional Council of Veterans Zhenisbek Maulenkulov then stated:
“Some books provide information, while others impart knowledge. Still others shape a person’s way of thinking and offer guidance on the direction society should take. In his book ‘Honest Words for a Just Society,’ our President addresses all three of these aspects. The book presents a coherent vision of statehood and a unified worldview. It is divided into 21 thematic sections, each of which comprehensively examines the idea of building a just, strong, and responsible Kazakhstan.
A just society must begin with each individual. It begins with fairness within the family, integrity at work, responsibility towards one’s surroundings, respect for the law and the rights of others, and concern for the destiny of the country.”
He also reflected extensively on the responsibility of the older generation to the country, emphasizing that the role of veterans in society is to serve as a spiritual bridge between the past and the future and to provide young people with clear guidance.
During the round-table discussion, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Professor Bekzhigit Serdali delivered a presentation entitled “Reflections on the Quality of the Nation, Public Administration, Science and Education, Culture and Spirituality.” Nariman Markhabayev, Head of Department at the Regional Youth Resource Centre, presented a report entitled “Reflections for Young People: Education, Work, Responsibility and the Future.” Yerkebulan Madiyaruly, Chairman of the Turkistan Regional Branch of the Youth Wing of the Adilet Party, also shared his forthright views.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants noted the relevance of the ideas presented in the book to contemporary society. They also discussed the importance of civic responsibility, education, and the value of work in building a just society.
