The Faculty of Education and Humanitarian Studies is among the oldest faculties, existing since the university's establishment in 1991. Although the faculty's name has changed over the years due to structural reorganizations, it originates from the Faculty of History. The first dean of the faculty was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor S. Maduanov. In subsequent years, the faculty was led by Professor Huseyin Sever, Professor Ahmet Tasagil, Professor Sefaettin Severcan, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor K. Zhetibaev, Candidate of Historical Sciences E. Tolegenov, S.U. Abzhalov, and PhD, Associate Professor A.A. Kuralbaeva.
The faculty comprised the Departments of General History, History of Kazakhstan, History of Turkic States, Archaeology, Ethnology and Museum Studies, General Psychology, General Pedagogy, and Ethnopedagogy. The faculty trained highly qualified professionals for the region and fraternal Turkic states. Renowned domestic and foreign historians worked at the faculty, including Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor M. Abiltain, G. Candarlioglu, Z. Isabekov, S. Tashenov, M. Adikhanov, T. Dauirbaeva, Zh. Zhanpeisova, and others. In the field of pedagogy, experienced and well-known pedagogical scholars, such as Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor L. Kerimov, S. Kurbankozhaev, B. Ospanova, S. Babaev, A. Usmanov, K. Ybyraiymzhanov, K.T. Atemova, and others, mentored numerous students. Currently, there are 3 departments within the faculty. Since 2026, the faculty has been headed by Candidate of Sciences, Associate Professor Zulpykharova Elmira Umirzakovna.
