The history of the library

The formation and development of the Information resource center is closely linked to the history of the University. The IRC is one of the leading divisions of the University and performs scientific, informational, cultural and educational functions. Provides information support for educational, scientific and educational activities of the University within the framework of educational process organizations in accordance with the requirements of state educational standards.

In 2016, the library was moved to a new 4-storey modern building equipped with new technologies and communication solutions, with a total area of 6472 sq.m. its structure includes 6 reading rooms with 540 seats. The book collection in the reading rooms is provided in accordance with international standards in open access, and the reading rooms are equipped with separate booths for individual and group classes. Users are provided with free access to the Internet, WI-FI, as well as access to electronic information resources of Ulakbim (Turkey) and electronic resources of its own generation.

Since 2010, the library has been a participant in projects to integrate electronic educational resources into a single information system – the Republican interuniversity electronic library (RMB), as well as the Kazakh national electronic library (KazNEB). The library is fully automated. To ensure wide access to information resources, a special library program IRBIS-64 is used.in 2016, a system of RFID technologies was introduced to ensure the safety of the Fund.

The library’s website is being actively developed to inform our users (www.lib.аyu.edu.kz). An institutional repository has been created to effectively use the book Fund and meet the demand of readers.
